I don’t get it. Colquitt played at an all-pro level last season. He’s an expert at the coffin corner. The only advantages that the Scottish Hammer has are a slightly bigger boot (albeit with a shorter average), a lower salary, ability to tackle, and ability to kick FG’s in a pinch. Contrast that with Colquitt who had a better average, much more accuracy, more different punts at his disposal, and much better at holding for a FG.
In the end it all comes down to money, we save on the punter to help pay for guys like Myles and Baker on down the road.
Cap space age and the Hammers potential are the ingredients that made this move happen IMO.
