ParticipantSo, we cut Kindred, and trade Ogbah for a player that looks to be very similar to Kindred in terms of where there at in their careers.
I’m willing to give Dorsey a long leash, but this is a head scratcher for sure. We gave away valuable depth at DE for a guy that was never at any point considered good enough to be a starter at SS, except when the starter was hurt and the backup was rested for the playoffs. Huh??

DawgSoldierParticipantMurray is more of a Nickel defender than a SS.
He and the now gone BBC were Minnesota’s CB tandem back like 4 years ago or so when they were in school.
Honestly the best thing about the guy is he is a special teams ace.

IceKeymasterFrom everything I’m reading on him he’s a guy that would compete for a starting job and be a really nice backup if he lost. That’s if we actually had anyone on the roster for him to compete with. I really liked Kindred but he seemed to fall out of favor with Dorsey really quickly.

the dudeParticipantDorsey knows him. I think we have to trust in what is going on. Kindred is a below average player. Maybe this guy isn’t a star on KC. But Dorsey may see something in him. Good chance he isn’t being used right or something. I don’t follow KC enough to know much about him, but let’s not compare him to kindred. We can resign kindred tomorrow if we really thought he was the future of this team. He is not. Expect us to draft a safety.
Hue Jackson is a loser.

MDP Sack AttackParticipantFrom everything I’ve read, if we’re expecting Murray to contribute anywhere other than special teams, then we’re expecting to be complete garbage at the safety position.

IceKeymasterI think this shoehorns us into drafting a strong safety, and may also force us to trade up in the draft to get one.

The draft has plenty of Big CB’s that ca play safety as well as plenty of quality depth at safety.
SO while I do think it will be the 1st position addressed by the browns. I don’t see a trade up necessary IMO.

I’m hoping there’s a corresponding move to get us an at least average SS before the draft. Given Dorsey’s track record, he doesn’t seem to like having his hand forced on draft day, and he likes having all the holes filled.
I’d expect a backup QB to be brought in before the draft, as well. We’ve built to much around our passing game, and Mayfield isn’t exactly the playing-it-safe type and is bound to miss the occasional game.

Agree. In fact I’d say he might still sign a SS and then draft another SS because he loves competition.
