soupParticipantIt wouldn’t be a surprise to see him become Courtney Brown 2.0 in the NFL. After all, it’s Cleveland luck. Think about it.
Lose the WS last year due to the #2 and #3 starters injuries.
Lose the NBA champ 2 years ago due to injuries to Love and Irving.
Wouldn’t surprise me if he barely plays in his career due to injuries.
If he wants drafted elsewhere he’d be made of steel.
Not a good sign he went down without contact

DawgPoundDudeParticipantNo “official” word, but it’s supposedly not serious.
That said, I can easily agree with you Soup, that would indeed be just our luck.

ShooterModeratorI was talking about Browns injuries with a buddy of mine.
Who was the Cornerback that we had, maybe 8-10 years ago that jumped up to defend a pass and wound up tearing the patellar tendons in both knees and ended his career?
I cannot for the life of me remember his name.

Oh man, the Browns and their injuries.

soupParticipantGary Baxter!
Oh man, the Browns and their injuries.I was going to answer that very easily. It was against Denver and I was at the game. The moment he hit the ground Denver receiver (Rod Smith?) Immediately pointed to the sidelines to call people over. There was no hesitation. I can only imagine what he heard.

DawgPoundDudeParticipantThat was one of the worst injuries, ever. Sad, because not only was he decent (at least for the Ratbirds), but that ended his career.
And that’s been the Browns MO since ’99. A sad mix of ineptitude and injuries. Just when there’s hope, something rips the heart of the team (except when Pat Shurmer was here…it was hopeless from the start).

ParticipantI’d say LeCharles Bentley was the worst injury. He was going to be a huge upgrade over the undersized Faine and we let Faine go. Unlike Baxter, Bentley was an all-pro.
First play of training camp, no contact, and he plants his foot like he’s done a million times before that from peewee on up, and BOOM. Throw in staph, and he’s doneso. That was as tough an injury as the Browns have had.

Well, we tend to lose those, too. Probably due to them showing promise.

IceKeymasterBruce Smith: Myles Garrett is “mature beyond his years”
Hall of Famer Bruce Smith, who has more sacks than anyone in the history of the NFL, caught his first glimpse of No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett in practice Wednesday.
And he came away impressed.
Via Pat McManamon of ESPN.com, Smith spoke one-on-one with Garrett often during the practice, and said he likes the fact that Garrett’s willing to listen.
“I don’t believe that I was as receptive as a rookie as he is,” Smith said. “This young man is mature beyond his years. That’s a tribute to his humbleness and his upbringing by his parents.”
Of course, he’s also being brought along slowly by the Browns, who only worked him in with the starters for the first time Wednesday in front of their esteemed guest.
Smith and Garrett have struck up a relationship over the years, and the all-time sacker said that Garrett working against a player the caliber of Browns left tackle Joe Thomas will only help.
“Joe can be an invaluable asset to Myles,” Smith said. “To be able to communicate with him after a play is over, after a pass rush, he can teach him how to be dominant player much quicker if he talks to him and communicates with him and tells him what he did wrong and what he did right, as opposed to him remaining silent.
“Him engaging and playing and getting as much action against Joe as he possibly can is critical.”
For all the natural talent Garrett possesses, having a mentor like Smith (and a daily practice competitor like Thomas) will undoubtedly help, and Smith walked away from Browns camp acknowledging that Garrett should be an “impact player” this season.

DawgPoundDudeParticipantAnd then there’s this (not sure if Twitter videos imbed…if not, follow the link). Dude made Thomas look like Cam Erving. I mean, I know better than to get excited but…I’m a little excited.

soupParticipantUm, no he didn’t. Joe played him like a fiddle. It was a screen pass to the left. If Joe stays out on hm Garrett can read it and make the tackle. If he thinks he has a free shot it’s a huge gain for the offense just like it was.
Before anyone gives me shit, this isn’t a knock on Garrett at all
