DawgPoundDudeParticipantDecent price for a decent player. 4 year deal, with $12mil guaranteed…I think.
I’m ok with it

soupParticipantHe’s terrible. Bad signing. the Rams cannot catch. Signing their recievers is a bad move. Also, with his size, I’m guessing we aren’t re-signing Pryor. Stats are nearly identical. We have analytics guys.

DawgstyleParticipantThe beauty of analytics is that the signing of Britt doesn’t mean that we won’t resign Pryor. It simply shows that they are willing to pay for historical production without paying a premium for potential future value (which may or may not be realized). Britt and Pryor had (essentially) the same production last year. It could easily be argued that Pryor has more upside since he only recently converted to WR. However, Britt is 28 and Pryor is 27 and Britt certainly has a larger body of work to draw from (meaning volatility, the chance that Britt is a “one hit wonder” is lower). Historically, WRs tend to fall victim to a sophomore slump, and we don’t yet know if 1,000 yards was a high or low water mark for Pryor.
Ideally, I would like to see us sign both Pryor and Britt. We are not particularly talented at WR and I think history has proven that big bodied WRs are a better fit for the North teams in both the AFC and NFC (with a few notable exceptions).

ParticipantThe problem though is with a bigger body of work, last year was a career year for Kenny Britt. So, that was more likely HIS high water mark. With only one full year as WR and a rotating cast of QBs, it was more likely Pryors floor than his ceiling.

DawgstyleParticipant4 times in 8 years Britt has gone over 700 yards. 2 additional times he went over 500 yards (589 and 681, respectively). Is Britt the answer at #1 WR? Absolutely not. Is he an upgrade over Pryor? Probably not. Is he a decent #2 and does he improve our WR corps? Absolutely.
As Tony Jefferson proved, we can want the right guys and still not be able to sign them. The roster has to be improved in the intermediate by guys willing to play in Cleveland. After a 1-15 season, the reality is that we have to get better in every way we can while not being hamstrung in the future.

The Rams can’t catch? They’re all the same player? Eesh, at least say Britt can’t catch, then we can debate it. Otherwise you could blame it on the water in St. Louis. Water be making people have slippery hands.

Hmm, he did have a career year AFTER they moved to LA. The data supports your theory #analytics
