I hate to say this but he’s the guy who satisfies the Rooney Rule for us. He’s going around the league interviewing for many HC openings for the same reason. There’s a very small chance he’s actually being seriously considered.

False as we asked the Patriots about Brian Flores. Unless he already knows that today he’s hiring McCarthy. In that case you would be right (your post was my first thought until I looked up Flores)

    Freedom!!!

Am I missing something about Caldwell, as in why doesn’t he have a job? His record seems fairly immaculate, he was amazing with the Colts until they had a bad season when Manning was hurt for the year. He also did with the Lions. I don’t particularly remember the dude, what information am I missing?

Wonder if Caldwell got the interview because he could be Kitchens OC….

Some folks over at the OBR are pushing Hard for Kitchens to be HC.

I love the guy as a play caller and in front of the microphone at press conferences. He comes across as a good ole boy that would be awesome to have a beer with. So it’s not like I don’t like the guy. I just don’t get where folks are coming from that he would be a good HC?

As there are are plenty of examples of awesome coordinators that suck out loud at being head coaches.

I desperately want Kitchens to be OC, and I’m not on board at all with him being HC. He’s been a coordinator, at any level, for all of one half of a season

I don’t think being a coordinator necessarily qualifies you for being a head coach. I prefer not hiring a coordinator purely because too many times they want to take over play calling or butt heads with coordinators.

. If they’ve been around for a while and have a plan to bring in experienced coordinators I’m fine with it. Kitchens has one half of a season of OC under his belt. I’d want to see at least a couple more years of that under his belt and then force him to not call plays as HC so he can focus on running the team.

If they really want Kitchens as HC, that’s the only scenario I’d hire Arians. Make Kitchens assistant head coach, with the understanding he’d take the reigns in a couple seasons.

I think Kitchens WILL be a very good HC in this league in about 6 years. He needs more experience. I worry that he’ll jump at some HC job too early where he has no chance of winning and destroy his career.
