soupParticipantJosh Gordon applied for reenstatement.
Brown didn’t say he expects Griffin to be there. He said he expects players on the roster will be there. I believe they have until March 9 on the option.
As for Pryor, Rosenhaus won’t negotiate until March 7. That’s when teams can begin making offers to FA. This allows Rosenhaus the ability for other teams to set Pryor’s price. They’ll have two days to hammer out a deal.

I took another look at the transcript, and we’re kind of both right. He said he expects Robert back in April when the guys on the roster are back.
But, when pushed on if that meant they would pick up the option, he said they hadn’t made a decision yet. I don’t think he meant the first comment as confirmation that they’re keeping RG3.
Gordon, if he gets reinstated it’ll be the day he’s cut. He’s done as a Brown, that’s for sure.

DawgSoldierParticipantif gordon gets reinstated he is worth roster spot to see if he can stay clean IMO. especially when it 90 guys deep in the offseason

I agree on the basis that something is better Han nothing, and we get nothing if we cut him.
However, my comment was based on Hue’s press conference when Gordon entered rehab, when he said “this is the last time I’ll talk about Josh Gordon,” and also the precedence set when they cut Manziel that they won’t put up with players that aren’t committed.
So, my comment wasn’t my opinion of what they should do, but my opinion of what they will do based on their previous behavior.

I hope someone takes crowell
RG3 will be the starting qb next year.
Josh Gordon can apply all that he wants….but I would be very disappointed if this team puts him even in the mix to get a roster spot.
Hue Jackson is a loser.

Agree

Unless it’s a team that made the playoffs. I think a mid-high 2nd would be a fair trade

Gawd no. I was not impressed with his ability last season.

Agree 100%. Try to trade him for a decent water boy and failing that release him.

soupParticipantIn regards to Pryor, last time I’ll explain it. Legal tampering begins tomorrow at noon. The market will set the price. That’s why he hasn’t signed. He never would before legal tampering. It would be stupid of him and the Browns. He’s in a unique situation as he’s only played WR for 1 year in a position switch and is 27 already. Rosenhaus will negotiate with us off the deals they receive the next 2 days. Our offers will be based off that.
As someone that makes a living in sales I can tell you, unquestionably, this is why he hasn’t been signed yet.

ShooterModeratorHe wants to see what his value is, it’s that simple.
I don’t see how this would be “stupid” of the Browns though. If some team offers him a shitload of money, far more than what the Browns are willing to offer, he’s gonna take it without hesitation. In that case, the Browns will have spent the time and effort to turn him into viable WR and weapon on offense and see the fruits of that labor go to another team.
Tagging him would have been stupid because it would have made him the highest paid receiver in football, but they should have been aggressive with him and Rosenhaus when they had a chance to lock him up to a long-term deal.
I highly doubt we retain him. It’s possible, and the Browns may very well match a price another team offers, but I doubt it. Some team is going to reach and offer him a huge deal, and I think it’s gonna be bye bye for Pryor at that point.
Which sucks.

ParticipantI agree with Soup on this one. Honestly, the only reason players should sign before FA is if their getting offered MORE than they think they’ll get on the market (which would be stupid of the Browns).
Fortunately, Pryor has stated he wants to stay in Cleveland and play for Hue, so if the Browns want to keep him they just have to match the highest bidder. Which, is pretty atypical for Cleveland.
March 6, 2017 at 6:02 pm #7855
ShooterModeratorso if the Browns want to keep him they just have to match the highest bidder.
And if the highest bidder is above and beyond what the Browns want to pay?

Participantso if the Browns want to keep him they just have to match the highest bidder.

Yeah, he’ll leave. But that’s been the situation since the end of the season.
And, although I’d prefer to keep him, one plus is if he does leave, presumably his contract would put us in line for a 3rd round compensatory pick next year. Better to keep him, but that’s better than nothing.

You miss the overall point. Unless the Browns made him the highest paid WR Rosenhaus wasn’t going to ever say yes. Rosenhaus refused to negotiate during the season. He wanted to wait. He knows exactly what he’s doing. The Browns would’ve been dumb in that sense of making him the highest paid WR in the NFL

ParticipantThere’s a report on PFT.com now that, according to MKC, the Browns want Garopollo for #12, but the Pats want that and a conditional ’18 1st rounder.
F that. F it right in the A. That’d be the dumbest thing we can do. I’d hate Garopollo for #12 let alone more. I just don’t see it with this guy.
If it was a credible source I’d be more worked up, but it’s MKC. If you ready her article (and i don’t recommend it) it’s filled with a bunch of BS that she invented, though she claims it’s “what she’s hearing from league sources.” Yeah, she had no clue about Cody Kessler in the 3rd, so I’m not gonna believe the shit she’s selling.
March 7, 2017 at 9:09 pm #7868Dawg E. Dawg
ParticipantIn a post Osweiler world, I have no idea why anybody would want to make that same mistake and throw in an extra 1st rounder. Because make no mistake, that’s what the price tag is for Garopollo. At least a first and, you’re not giving that up for a 1 year QB, so you’re going to sign him to a huge 72 millionish contract. F that.

DawgSoldierParticipantPats can go pound sand…Jimmy G isn’t worth one of the Browns 2nd rounders let alone a 1st and more.

MKC is totally in the bag for Garapalo. Every story she’s written about him is just gushing.
It seems like we go through this every offseason before the draft. There are 3 possibilities here.
1) Her information is correct, someone in the Browns is floating the idea of trading #12 for Jimmy.
2) Her information is incorrect and floated by someone from another team just to raise the value of Jimmy. If other teams want him and hear we’re giving a mid-high 1st then they will have to offer more.
3) Her information is incorrect and floated by someone from the Browns who want people to think we’re trying hard to get Jimmy when in fact we’re not even thinking about him.My bet is on option 2. Option 1 gets people fired pretty quick.

ParticipantAgree with everybody about Jimmy.
Next up in the rumor mill: Browns are trying to get Tony Jefferson.
This is the guy I was hoping they’d go after. 25 and productive. He’s being let go because of a numbers game, and the cards can’t pay him, Matthieu, and Peterson in their backfield. While he won’t come cheap, he won’t break the bank like some of the bigger names. Here’s hoping.

lotta talk of him linking up with us because of Greg Williams.

It’s hard for me to keep up on this stuff right now.TJ McDonald (safety). The other dude (Trumain Johnson) is tagged, but linked to Williams. Don’t know why, because I guess didn’t fit his scheme so well…or so it’s been reported.
