soupParticipantEpically moronic move by the Browns. Just as it seemed like things may be going in the right direction they hire an idiot that botched 4 years of draft picks and traded us a 1st round pick for Trent Richardson.
Just when you think things are potentially going right, the Browns make a Brownsian move to knock us back to reality.

ShooterModeratorYeah, head scratcher for me too.
I mean the Browns made a horrendous error in drafting Trent Richardson, and as soon as the Browns realized he was a bust, this guy traded a 1st round pick FOR him. Before he was fired he was well on his way to running the Colts firmly into the ground.
I uhhhhh, I don’t get it.

ParticipantThe one good thing to come out of this is an article I read on NFL.com that literally made me laugh out loud. The part tha got me was, and I’m paraphrasing here, “Grigson and the Browns have a history, with Grigson infamously trading a 1st round pick for uber-bust RB Trent Richardson. The Browns did their part to minimize the bad PR by using that pick to select Johnny Manziel a year later.”
I don’t care who you are, that’s funny.

DawgPoundDudeParticipantYou guys are seeing it wrong if you think this is a bad move.
The reason? He’s not here in any GM capacity. Before he was that, he very successfully worked his way up in the scouting department for some YEARS. Dude rubs people the wrong way, no doubt. But now he’s gonna be answering to the guy who once worked for him.
I absolutely see this as a great move to get a man with some experience in the front office…just, you know, don’t let him touch any buttons on the control panel.

Right, as a GM. Couldn’t agree more.
But instead of explaining, I’ll direct you to his Wiki page.
Really, he’s been a scout long before a GM. And as long as he doesn’t talk to people (other than his bosses), he’ll be fine.
Berry has likely been pushing for this since he was fired.

IceKeymasterDPD beat me to it. He’s not the GM. He’s not in charge of trades. He’s gonna run the scouts, you’ll never hear his name.
